1. Who we are
Notes of One is a personal media and membership site about AI, embodied intelligence, and smart home. It is operated by Jian Liu and hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with edge functions and KV storage from Cloudflare.
Questions or privacy requests: privacy@notesofone.com. If the public contact address changes later, the latest notice on the site controls.
2. What we collect
Email address: when you subscribe or go through membership flows.
Membership session: an HttpOnly cookie named jian_member (about 365 days) after login; cleared on logout.
Theme preference: localStorage key jian-theme on your device only.
Infrastructure logs: Cloudflare may record IP, user-agent, path, and time for security and reliability. We do not build ad profiles from these logs.
We do not sell your personal information, and advertising trackers are not a core part of this site.
3. How we use information
To run subscribe and membership features (lists, magic-link verification, session).
To send verification or notice emails when mail delivery (e.g. Resend) is configured and you requested it.
To keep the service secure and debug abuse.
To comply with law or protect safety when required.
4. Cookies and local storage
Essential cookie: jian_member for membership sessions.
Local storage: jian-theme for light/dark preference.
You can clear cookies and storage in your browser; clearing the membership cookie requires login again for member content.
5. Storage and cross-border processing
Subscriber and member lists live in Cloudflare KV (binding INBOX). Static assets and functions run on Cloudflare’s network, which may process data outside your country.
Processing is limited to what the site needs to function. If your jurisdiction restricts cross-border transfers, review this before continuing or contact us.
6. Retention
Subscriber emails until unsubscribe or deletion request.
Member records while membership is active; session cookie ends on logout or expiry.
Infrastructure logs follow provider defaults for short-term ops and security.
7. Your rights
Where applicable (including PIPL-style rights for China-facing users), you may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information, and may ask us to limit certain processing.
Email privacy@notesofone.com after we verify your identity. We will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Children
The site is intended for adults. Do not submit personal information if you are under 14. Guardians may contact us to delete a child’s data.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, HttpOnly cookies, and keep secrets out of the public repository. No method is perfectly secure—protect your inbox and membership credentials.
10. Updates
We may update this policy and will post changes on the site. Continued use after an update means you are aware of the revised policy.
